Rose Valley Road Logo Design

Rose Valley Road is a music band based in Canberra. They were renaming their group and wanted a whole new identity to go along with their new name. The members requested for a logo very reminiscent of old-style book covers and the fonts that come along with them. They also wanted something that would work well on merchandise.

Due to the freestyle movements that the band wanted, I worked on paper for most of this logo process. This was the final confirmed logo. Everything was hand lettered and hand drawn, and I created a bold border around the entire thing to give it a sharp contrast between the femininity of the hand lettering and its elements, and the colours that the band would choose to use.

A few months down the road, the members wanted to engage my services for another logo, this time based on just the acronym of the band’s name. They had a rough idea in mind for merchandise, and needed my help making it work.

To start, I reworked a more detailed version of the initial rose in their full logo to create depth and dimension to this RVR logo, and followed this through with the vintage theme the members tend to gravitate towards. The use of gold accentuates the richness of the logo itself, and the mix of straight and curved lines brings it all together. I designed the logo to work in layers, i.e. the rose can be separated to become just an icon, and the lines of the logo can work well separated.
